BUDGETING
Simple Wallet Essentials

Hey, It’s Steve from Feasible Creative — your weekly shortcut to smarter money moves.

I used to think I needed twelve credit cards, four debit cards, and hundreds of dollars in cash in my wallet.

All it did was stress me out.

With nearly 70% of Americans feeling anxious about money, simplifying your wallet is a small step that can provide peace of mind.

Today, I’ll show you what’s worth keeping and what to leave behind.

Wallet Minimalism: The Way

Here’s what you actually need to carry:

Credit Card(s) That Work for You
The key is to ensure you pay your balance in full every month and choose a card that rewards your spending habits.

💳 Everyday spender? With Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card you earn unlimited 3% cash back at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart® and Target®), on dining, entertainment and popular streaming services, plus 1% on all other purchases.

💳 Beginner-friendly? With Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card you earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, every day. (This was my first card).

💳 Frequent Traveler? With Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card you earn 10x on hotels and rental cars, and 5x on flights and vacations booked through Capital One Travel. Beyond this, you earn 2x on all other purchases.

Debit Card
These are handy for making purchases in places that only accept debit cards or cash. They're also great for ATM withdrawals.

⚠️ REMINDER: If you bank is paying you 0.01% interest, you're leaving money on the table. SoFi Checking and Savings offers no fees and a much better APY.

Cash
Yes, cash is king. I don’t carry a ton, just enough for moments like these:

  • Cash-only restaurants

  • Places that give discounts for cash payments

  • Leaving cash tips

🚫 Bonus: What Doesn’t Belong in Your Wallet

  • Your prepaid Visa with $1.22 left on it

  • Expired gift cards

  • 4-year-old loyalty punch cards from a shop that closed

Anything in your wallet that I’m missing? Let me know!

Steve
