Caleb Hammer’s Simpler Budget App
Caleb Hammer, one of YouTube’s biggest finance creators, just launched a budget app called Simpler Budget. After testing it out for a few days, here’s my honest review.

Overview: Caleb Hammer is known for his ‘Financial Audit’ video series where he helps people in financial trouble get back on track and build a budget. With his expertise in budgeting, he created Simpler Budget as a no-frills option for those who don’t necessarily need all the extras of other competing apps.
Simpler Budget securely connects to your accounts via Plaid, pulling transaction data to track against the budget targets you set for different categories. This makes it easy to monitor your spending in real time and stay accountable to your money goals.
Pros:
Simple: As the name implies, it’s easy to use.
Good UI/UX: Clean design, though a bit buggy.
Potential: While basic right now, it could evolve into a top budgeting app.
Cons:
Subscription Fee: There is a free version available but it lacks the Plaid integration. Current costs are $15 per month or $90 per year.
Too Simple: Limited features (just budget tracking) without many charts.
Right now, I think it’s a bit too early to start using Simpler Budget for most people. However, in the future I expect the app to improve significantly. For now, I still suggest YNAB and you can click here for a free 34-day trial to see for yourself.
