CREDIT CARDS
Dave Ramsey Was Wrong…
Happy Tuesday — Steve here. Today, I want to talk a bit about credit cards.
Growing up, I always avoided them, sticking to debit cards or cash after hearing countless horror stories about debt. In college, I discovered Dave Ramsey whose anti-credit card views were drilled into my brain.
Well it turns out, Dave was wrong. (Kind of)…

Credit cards can actually be some of the most powerful tools in your financial toolkit, when used responsibly. If you’re disciplined and pay your balance in full every month, then you can win the game.
Here are 3 underrated benefits of credit cards:
3 Benefits of Credit Cards
Cashback & Points
If you’re already spending money on things like gas and groceries, you might as well earn 1% - 5% or more in cashback or points. These rewards can help cover your credit card bill, pay for travel, gift cards, and more.
Extra Perks
While perks vary by card, many include benefits like no foreign transaction fees when traveling, rental car coverage, and even access to airport lounges.
Strategic Leverage
This one requires discipline, but it’s powerful. Credit cards can give you flexibility on big purchases. For example, I recently bought a $2,000 mattress with a credit card. This gave me almost a month before the money left my account. It’s all about managing cash flow on your terms.
